Social Outreach

Social Outreach

Our social outreach work is the core of Gadens Boern, since all our projects originate and develop according to our learnings in the field. We operate in three different slums called Bakkri Patti, Khaldhar and Topsia and at Sealdah Station, which has over 2 million daily commuters.

Our team is present in the field from 9 AM to 8 PM during which they are in contact with about 50-70 children and their families.

In our outreach work we have contact with almost 200 children and we try to visit all of them once every week to make sure they are doing all right with their education, health and nutrition. We talk to their parents/families and make them aware of various sensitizing issues such as the importance and value of education to a child’s life and future.

On outreach we bring blankets, drawing books, crayons, music and toys and through play, laughter, hugs and long conversations we forge strong bonds with the children and their families. We listen to their worries and joys, give advice and provide them with a shoulder to cry on. We talk about the importance of education and health care, and together we explore how the children can benefit from our different projects.
